The governance documents detail the roles and responsibilities of Lothian and Borders CJA and how our CJA should operate to ensure we meet the expectations of the Scottish public.

The 8 Community Justice Authorities of Scotland will enhance the protection of our communities through reducing re-offending by ensuring effective offender management and through the provision of strategic direction. The Community Justice Authorities will enable and support better ways for agencies to work together to provide wide ranging services for offenders and their families.

The Management of Offenders etc (Scotland) Act 2005 and the National Strategy for the Management of Offenders now formally recognises these important connections and creates a community of agencies who are required to cooperate in managing offenders with a variety of complex needs. Community Justice Authorities through strong partnership with a shared purpose will implement the strategy.
